Keep Calm Week 6

ICD-10-CM W55.21

Last week our ICD-10-CM campaign featured a code that might come in useful during the Livestock Show at the Arkansas State Fair. We stumbled across another code that fits in with this theme and decided that we needed to share it too.

Showing cattle at the livestock show is not only hard work, but it is expensive! According to the University of Arkansas’ Division of Agriculture, the average cost to purchase a registered heifer is around $2,500. Show team members and their sponsors can expect to spend another $1500-3500 on various expenses during the season. If the costs alone don’t deter you from wanting to show a cow at the fair, the amount of training they need just might! A lot of time and patience are needed to teach a 1000 lbs.+ animal to wear a halter, walk when prompted, and stand perfectly still for the judges.

Our ICD-10-CM code this week is paying tribute to what might happen when those show cattle get tired of training and decide to resist!
